A time comes in the life of every teenager when he/she has to decide his/her career path. Scope and lucrative options are the important reasons for choosing a career option, and so, commerce is sought after. In addition to this, with the increase in the Indian economy and the remarkable rise in the country’s GDP, students can foresee a golden future in the field of commerce and careers related to it. Career options include banking, chartered accountancy, company secretary, business consulting, financial analysis, taxation, business law, marketing and auditing. India has a large number of colleges where commerce is offered in the undergraduate (Bachelors Degree in Commerce or B.Com) and post graduate levels (Masters Degree in Commerce or M.Com). Admissions to such colleges are largely similar.
Admission process for Undergraduate Commerce CoursesĀ
Colleges offering B.Com to students, who have completed (or will be soon completing) their class 12 examination, take them in on the basis of the examination marks. Another criterion for admission to the commerce course is that the student must have had Mathematics or Business Mathematics as a subject in his/her class 12. The cut offs are put up on a board in college and on the college website and students who find themselves eligible can fill up the admission form, also available on the website.
