Chattisgarh situated in the central part of India shares its north-western boundary with Madhya Pradesh. Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh lies on the western and southern part of Chattisgarh. The tenth largest state of India covers an area of 135,194 sq. Km. Unlike other Indian states the education scenario in Chattisgarh is not that remarkable. Courses offered by Universities in Chattisgarh
The universities in Chattisgarh offer general as well as technical courses. Most of the colleges in the state are affiliated to any of the eight universities here. The universities in Chattisgarh offer undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D programs, M.Phil and diploma courses for the students.

They can do their higher studies in science, humanities, commerce, engineering and technology, management and entrepreneurship, pharmacy, architecture, applied sciences and humanities, ecology and environment, medical science, natural science, law, music, dance, journalism and mass communication and other courses.

Types of Universities in Chattisgarh
In addition to the universities offering general courses, there are some technical universities as well for the students to join. Indira Gandhi Agriculture University situated at Raipur in Chattisgarh is a renowned agricultural University. It offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs. Indira Kala Sangeet University established in the year 1956 offers courses in music, visual arts, dance, arts and folk music leading to undergraduate as well as post graduate degrees. Certificate courses on various subjects are also offered for the students to join. Established on 21st January, 2005, Chattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University offers various technical programs starting from diploma to post graduate level. Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University established in the year 1964 is a residential institution. The university also has a placement cell, which invites reputed companies for conducting campus interviews.

Mode of Education

Most of the courses offered by universities in Chattisgarh are of full time duration. The undergraduate general courses conducted are mainly of three years duration. Distance learning courses are also offered by various institutions in Chattisgarh.
