The general entrance examinations to these IIT institutes are known as IIT JEE. Those, who are opting for Bachelor of Architecture or B.Arch in Kharagpur have to pass an aptitude test apart from the general test. The candidates for Bachelor of Design or B.Des under IIT Guwahati also have to pass the aptitude test. IIT opens a wide gate for the students. Those, who qualify IIT JEE exam, can also become eligible for admission in Bachelor of Technology, Integrated Bachelor of Technology, and Integrated M.Sc. The entrance exam consists of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The exam is science-based competitive exam. The total number of seats is nearly 8500, in which the ratio of acceptance if about 1 in 60.
This is an all-India exam and for this reason, it is considered as one of the toughest entrance exams in the country. In order to appear on the entrance exam, the candidate needs to complete his 12th exam with at least 60% marks under a recognized educational board. IIT JEE examination board frequently changes their question pattern. For this reason, IIT tuitions are the must these days.
