The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was the brainchild of Jawaharlal Nehru and it took shape with the help of a generous collaboration from the Government of New Zealand. The institute is considered to be one of the premier medical institutes in India and consistently ranks at the top in the various surveys regarding medical education in India.

Admission Procedure The admission of the candidates in the MBBS course will be dependent on their performance in the Competitive Entrance Examination that is conducted by the institute itself. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences has 77 seats for the MBBS candidates out of which 37 seats are for the General category, 19 for Other Backward Classes, 5 for Scheduled Tribes, 11 for Scheduled Castes and 5 for Foreign Nationals.
Eligibility Criteria Candidates who are desirous of applying for the MBBS course will have to be 17 years of age as on the 31st of December of the year in which admission is sought. The candidates have to pass their higher secondary examinations (10+2) from a recognized board and score at least 60% in aggregate with English, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology as the compulsory subjects.
Scholarships and Awards
  • A sum of INR 500 per month is awarded as Summer Fellowships to the deserving candidates after the completion of their departmental projects.

  • The Merit Scholarships are bestowed on students who have occupied the first (INR 750 per month) and the second (INR 500 per month) positions in the MBBS examinations.
