The Amrita School of Engineering prides itself in being selected among the four institutes worldwide for the 2011 IEEE Student Enterprise Award. The institute has three campuses in Coimbatore, Bangalore and Amritapuri. The Coimbatore branch is the oldest among the three and the latter two were established in the year 2002.

Eligibility Criteria For the B.Tech courses, the candidates should pass their higher secondary examinations in the 10+2 format from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as the compulsory subjects and must score at least 60% marks in aggregate (60% or above in Mathematics and 55% separately in Chemistry and Physics).


Candidates who have a diploma in engineering with a minimum of 60% marks will also be considered eligible to apply.


For the 2012 entrance examination, the applicants should be born on or after the 1st of July, 1991.

Admission Procedure The admission to the B.Tech course is based on the performance of the candidates in the entrance examination that is conducted by the institute itself. The examination usually takes place in the month of April every year. The application forms are issued from the last week of December onwards and the forms have to be submitted by the end of the month of March.


For the year 2012, the test is scheduled to be held on the 22nd of April. The examination will be of 3 hours duration. The admit cards for the test can be downloaded from the official website of the institute, a month before the examination is scheduled to be held. The application kit will cost INR 850.


For the M.Tech course, the admissions are based on the academic merit of the students and the selected students have to appear for a round of interview. However, candidates who have a valid GATE score will have an added advantage.


The MCA admissions are based on the candidates’ scores in the entrance examination that is conducted by the institute. The selected candidates will be called for a subsequent interview session.
