Established in the year 1990, Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication or SIMC is affiliated to the Symbiosis International University. This institution was previously known as Symbiosis Institute of Journalism & Communication and was renamed in the year 1999. Within a span of 20 years, this co-educational institute has become one of the leading colleges for mass media courses in India.

The institute offers 2 two-year post graduate courses in the field of media and communications – M.B.A. or Masters in Business Administration in Communication Management and Masters in Mass Communication. Students can choose from a number of specializations such as Advertising, Public Relations and Media Management, the latter course starts from the academic year 2011-2013, in M.B.A., and Journalism and Audio Visual Production in M.M.C.. The placement cell of the institute provides recruitment to well known media companies such as Times, Star, CNN, Tata, Amul, Pepsico and Ogilvy. For admission to SIMC, you will need to sit for an entrance test, that is conducted by the college. The test is different for both the courses. The institute does not allow students to apply for both the courses together. You will also not be able give both the test in the same year as they are held at the same time on the same day in December.
