Applicants for this course need to pass higher secondary (10+2) examination from a recognized institute. The cut-off aggregate marks obtained in the examination may vary from one institute to another. Candidates completing a 3-year diploma course from a recognized polytechnic are also offered admission.
Some institutes also offer admission to applicants who have passed graduation (10+2+3) in commerce or any other stream, except fine arts. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the marks obtained in the higher secondary or diploma examination. Some institutes also conduct personal interview. As the medium of instruction for distance learning is generally English, candidates should have exceptional knowledge of the same.
Duration of the course
The duration for bachelor of corporate secretaryship (BCS) or BA (Corporate Secretaryship) in a regular course is generally of three years. However, under the distance learning program, it can be extended further. The course is divided into 3 semesters: Foundation, Intermediate and Final.
Graduate or postgraduate candidates can skip the foundation course and get directly enrolled into the intermediate one. This exception is also applicable for candidates who have passed out of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or the Institute of Cost and Works Accountancy.
With a bachelor’s degree in corporate secretaryship, one can find employment in finance, merchant banking, accounts and law fields. After completion of the bachelor degree, one can even opt for a masters degree. A candidate with a master degree in this subject is preferred by different government and private organizations, financial institutions, and commercial banks. The remuneration for a fresher with a bachelor’s degree ranges from INR 7,000 to INR 13,000.
