Banaras Hindu University Medical Entrance Examination – BHU 2012

Banaras Hindu University Medical Entrance Examination – BHU 2012 conducts a common entrance examination (PMT) to admit students in its MBBS, BAMS, B.Pharm, and BDS courses. The admission test for MBBS course is conducted in 2 stages – SCREENING and MAIN. The institute admits 84 students in the MBBS course, 50 to BAMS, 33 to B.Pharm, and 38 to the BDS course. For other courses the admission is offered based on the performance of SCREENING examination only.

Application Mode Application forms are available from selected braches of Bank of Baroda within the stipulated date. Only for the BHU Branch, S.S. Hospital, Varanasi- the form is available till 12th march, 2012. For candidates belonging to general and OBC categories, the fee for application form is INR 1,500. For SC and ST candidates, the application fee is INR 1,000. Candidates can also collect the form by post from the address mentioned below, along with a written request and a bankers cheques or demand draft of INR 1,600, drawn in favor of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” and payable at Varanasi. For SC, ST candidates the draft amount would be INR 1,100. The requisition envelope should be marked as “Request for Application Form for PMT-2012, BHU”, and should contain 2 self-addressed white slips of 10 cm by 6 cm size. Eligibility Criteria For admission to MBBS course, the candidates need to pass senior secondary (10+2) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany + Zoology), and English as compulsory subjects. The minimum aggregate mark required in the XIIth board examination is 50%. For physically challenged candidates, the minimum aggregate requirement is 45%. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories, the minimum required mark is 40%.The candidates should be of minimum 17 years of age, but should not be more than 25 years on 31st December, 2012. Students born before 31st December, 1987 and after 1st January, 1996 are not eligible to apply.[In MBBS course, out of total seats, 42 are reserved for general candidates. 23 seats are reserved for candidates belonging to OBC category, 13 are reserved for SC category applicants, and 6 are reserved for students belonging to ST category].
