The Avinashilingam University, also known as the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Sciences and Higher Education for Women is a famous university for women in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It was established in the year 1957, under the University of Madras. In 1988, it was conferred as a deemed university by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
It now has 7 faculties including the largest Home Science faculty in India, Science, Education, Humanities, Management, Community Education and Entrepreneurship Development and Engineering. The ideals of discipline, learning and service to mankind followed in this institution echoes the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna, Mahatma Gandhi and Holy Mother Sri Sarasamani Devi.
