Maulana Azad National Urdu University is named after the freedom fighter and the first Minister of Education of India after independence, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The university was established with an All India jurisdiction by an Act of Parliament. The main of the university is to promote Urdu language and provide higher education through the said language.
The university has recently achieved grade “A” accreditation by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). Nearly fifteen thousand students in the country and abroad take advantage of the distance education courses offered by the university. All over the country, the university has 9 regional centers and 169 study centers.
