National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal

National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (NDRI) was established in 1923 and its headquarters were transferred to Karnal In 1989 the status of deemed university was bestowed upon the institute for enhancing the Academic program for development of human resource. It has been recognized by ICAR (Institute of center of advanced studies) to strengthen the research and training wing. It is located on 560 hectares of land surrounded by nature.

Courses :

B. Tech (Dairy Technology)

The degree program provides intensive and meticulous training in processing of milk and its products, quality control maintenance and technical aspects of dairy processing equipments.

Duration: 4 years.

The course is imparted under semester system.

One academic year has two Semesters each of about 18 weeks duration.

The students are imparted one year “in plant Training” at Model Dairy Plant located at Institute’s campus.

The eligibility for admission is 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English from a recognized Board. Candidates who have obtained at least 60% marks or equivalent in the total of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for admission to the course.

Post Graduate program in Dairy Technology:

Duration:2 years for those who have completed their graduation in Dairy Technology for 4 years and 3 years for students who have completed their B. sc in other spheres like food technology, pure science
Eligibility: B. Tech degree in Dairy Technology with 60% marks or graduation in pure science, food technology,etc with 60% marks.
