The University of Himachal Pradesh was recognized as a Centre with Potential for Excellence in Himalayan Studies by UGC (University Grants Commission) in 2002. It is the only affiliating university in the state and also the first one to start distance education in India.

Admission Procedure | Postgraduate applicants for Science subjects and Computer Applications are selected on the basis of entrance examinations that usually take place in the month of May. The aspirants of post graduation in arts and humanities are selected on merit basis (marks obtained at the graduation level). The last date of admission for undergraduate classes has been fixed to 30th June of every year. |
